We are developing the Civil War shooter using the Torque Game Engine.  We have recruited the core development team and are making steady progress.  There will not be many news updates for this website, since most of our efforts are going into developing the game.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Map Contest. We had a number of maps submitted in various stages of development. The winning map is by Kevin G. and is based on the Mechanicsville battle of June 26, 1862.  We hope to include a version of this map, when we publish the game.

AOM, charaters and maps in development

June 15th - August 15th, 2006 (Completed - Contest is finished)
Civil War Torque Game Engine map contest with prizes.  We are challenging the TGE community to create some cool maps for this Civil War game.

<>The goal for the Civil War game will be to make a commercial video game. Very few games find retail publishers, even commercial games already in development are canceled by publishers. We are a small team of developers that are realistic about the chances of finding a publisher, and yet are still prepared and committed to making an independent game. A game we can self-publish if necessary.

If you have experience making games using TGE and would like to be considered for the team, then contact James Finn at fineas@prodigy.net.
Be sure to include links to examples of your work.

Age of Muskets American Civil War

Game Overview

In Civil War, you will experience America’s epic conflict, as you charge across open fields, scout out enemy positions on horseback, ride military balloons high above battlefield, or captain an ironclad gunboat on the Mississippi river.

A team based war game, that lets you fight the Civil War across America.  Select to fight for the North or the South, you play as a soldier armed with musket and sword.  The fighting takes place on numerous historic battlefields.  Experience intense single player missions and the challenge of multiplayer online gaming at its best.  You have your orders. Now, lead your men to victory.

The American Civil War saw many military improvements and firsts.
- Captain an ironclad gunboat
- Fire a hand-cranked machinegun
- Attack ships with a submarine

Go online to fight fierce battles.  Victory will come to those who cooperate and fight as a team.  Choose the Blue or the Gray.  Select to fight as an Artillery Officer, Infantry soldier, Sharpshooter, Marine or Support character; each with a specialized kit of weapons and items.  Wage war throughout the North and South.

Plenty of action with four game types:
- Capture the flag, Each team attempts to capture other team’s flag(s).
- Conquest, Each team fights to control strategic battlefield positions.
- Raiding Party, One team attacks, while the other team defends. ( then teams switch roles )
- Battle Line option, teams fight in various line formations.

Civil War is action war game, that places you into pivotal historic land and sea battles.  Fight with muskets and swords in America’s bloodiest war.  You must pledge your life and liberty to the Union or the Confederacy.  The General has given the orders. Now, you must decide how best to lead your men into battle.  Your fighting skills as a soldier will determine who is victorious.
